UTA Flight 772 was a scheduled flight operating from Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo to Paris CDG airport in France. The flight never made it. All on board perished. A memorial was built by the families of the victims with the pieces of the wreckage. The memorial was built mostly by hand and uses dark stones to create a 200 foot diameter circle. This region "The Tenere" is one of the most inaccessible places on the planet. The stones were trucked to the site from over 70km away. 170 broken mirrors, representing each victim were placed around the circumference of the memorial. This is how it looks like from space. These are the coordinates 16°51'53"N 11°57'13" E

Oil spills do untold damage to the environment—to the waters they pollute and to marine and other wildlife. Typically, such oil spillsare extraordinarily difficult to clean up. Soon, however, the process may become infinitely easier and ecologically friendly, the result of a new invention by a National Science Foundation- (NSF) supported scientist. "We have made a new catalyst that can break down hydrocarbons in water, and it does not contaminate the water," says Gouma, who also directs SUNY's Center for Nanomaterials and Sensor Development. "It utilizes the whole solar spectrum and can work in water for a long time, which no existing photocatalyst can do now. Ours is a unique technology. When you shine light on these grids, they begin to work and can be used over and over again.
